I’ve always loved sewing and creating garments. Growing up on a farm in the Eastern Cape, the “sewing room” was always a hive of activity. At the age of 10, I managed to cut and sew my first pair of pants and a top. It might have been an ill-fitting little creation, but it was the start of my love for fabrics and design.

Fast-forward to Grade 12, when much discussion centred around career choices. Fashion design was definitely not on my parents’ wish list, and so I set off to University in Cape Town. Here I made great friends and tried my best to fit into a degree that included science and a smattering of the arts. It was a bad idea!

The allure of creating beautiful clothes garments was just too strong. I was well into my 30s when my first brand, White Ginger, launched in Singapore. It was a heady time with easy travel to Bali and Vietnam, where prints and fabrics and CMTs became my happy space. I sold the brand when I returned to Cape Town, and Sunday Girl was born.

My focus is simple – create unique garments for women who want to look fabulous at work and play. Sunday Girl is inspired by colours, texture and bespoke prints. While trends come and go, we strive to create classic pieces that you can wear season after season.
